About Me
From 1985 until 2004 I bought, operated and sold several different businesses.
I worked as a consultant for several corporate turnarounds and even founded
a company that has since gone public. But my last assignment left me so
wiped out that I never wanted to deal with big business or employees again,
and this was from someone who had been a success in the world of business.
Real estate seemed like a fabulous alternative. I kept going back to Foreclosures.com
daily to read the
newsletter articles
and the various email pieces. I finally got up the nerve to contact Alexis
and to my amazement, she responded. I tried hard to find a reason that
I shouldn’t trust her. I couldn’t find one. I took some of her answers
to a friend of mine who actually had done a number of foreclosure transactions
from start to finish and he was very complimentary. He said her answers
were accurate and that it was clear that she has actually gotten her hands
dirty.
One month later I had completed her
Mastering Homestudy
and was sitting in her
2-day Lab
with my palms sweating, after hearing Alexis and doing some practice calls,
I was actually dialing the number of a homeowner whose mortgage was in
default. I quickly learned that action is the lynchpin to the success that
Alexis’s students enjoy
. You don’t make deals because you have done 20 hours of research on a
property and by knowing the comps and renovation costs by heart. You make
deals by engaging with people who need help. Of course, the fundamentals
are essential to success but none of it happens without the basic and essential
action of personal communication. With
Alexis’ 2
days of direct tutoring
I learned to be a quiet and confident expert who was able to walk a stressed-out
homeowner through their options in a comfortable and honest fashion. I
was the person who was willing and able to give them the hope that comes
from having a lucid and sensible battle plan. I was able to do this knowing
that the financial rewards would take care of themselves if I was committed
to the approach and willing to consistently take action.
My Success
I practiced what I was taught and put it into action. In two years following
Lab I bought and sold over 20 houses and helped three times that many people
stay in their homes. Then I moved on to buying apartment buildings in the
southeastern United States. In just a few short years, I now own over 1200
units of apartments in the Southeast US and have set up a company that
buys and sells apartments. We have raised millions of dollars from outside
investors through syndications, and I personally receive several thousand
dollars a month in “mailbox” money while owning over $36,000,000 of assets
that other people pay the mortgage on. I can’t imagine doing foreclosure
investing for a living without coming to Alexis’ hands on Lab. I can count
$20,000 of mistakes I would have made on my first deal without an experienced
pro’s direct insight at a minimum. Remember, others involved in this process
know how to extract money out of your transactions and if you aren’t careful,
you will always be the last in line.
The Benefits of Having a Coach
I have gone from being a rank beginner to an expert in a number of activities
in my life. I have also gone from rank beginner to a hopeless lifetime
hacker in others. In all of these cases, the difference between excelling
and wallowing was in my choice of leadership -- the person whom I chose
to lead me and mold me into what I was trying to become. Here are three
examples of how these choices have played out in my life personally...
-
After 10 years of playing golf, I was about a 17 handicapper. I then spent
a year taking two lessons a month from a gifted instructor and now my handicap
is under 9.
-
I was a C level club squash player for several years until a former national
champion started teaching at my club. I took lessons from him and won several
city and statewide tournaments over a five-year period.
-
I had also never shot a rifle in my life until I joined the Marine Corps
and in three weeks, with some of the best training in the world, I qualified
as a rifle expert while hitting 10 out of 10 bull’s eyes from 500 meters.
