Book Description
Make Money and Help Your Community at the Same Time.

Most of the foreclosure-related books in print are all about pumping up readers on how to get-rich-quick. They're about how much money you can make and how fast, and especially about how to steal the deal from the competition. They include little detail on how to get a property owner to say "yes." Instead, their overly complicated tips and tricks of the trade generally are provided at the expense of the property's original owner. Consider, instead, the white-knight approach to buying foreclosures. It's ethical, it's honest, and it's an opportunity to gain hefty financial rewards along with the personal satisfaction of helping others. No prior experience required, either. Regardless of market ups and downs and even without cash in hand, a person can make lots of money and a positive difference in other people's lives. The nice guy does finish first. In this book we'll use real life stories to show you how.

Instead of entering the business of buying foreclosures with the goal of making quick money at any cost, McGee advocates that success is all about helping others first. Foremost is to make a difference in others' lives, and your own financial gain will follow – so much gain, in fact, that you'll be amazed by your own success.

Every chapter will include real-life stories and experiences – positive as well as negative – from Alexis and many of her students. There also will be a Takeaway at the end of each chapter that summarizes key points.

Book Reviews

Graziadio Business Report
Pepperdine University; "The Book Corner"

By Michael Kinsman, CPA, PhD, Professor of Finance and Accounting

The real strength of the book for the beginning investor is its review of the laws surrounding foreclosure, its general background on the terminology and landscape of foreclosure, and an excellent glossary of terms. (More.)

Foolish Book Review: "The Foreclosures.com Guide"
By Tom Taulli, Motleyfool.com

When I picked up The Foreclosures.com Guide to Making Huge Profits Investing in Pre-Foreclosures Without Selling Your Soul, alarm bells went off in my head. Besides being too long, the title seemed to indicate that this was yet another flimsy get-rich-quick scheme. But I was wrong. The book is actually an excellent guide for those who are interested in capitalizing in the megatrend of foreclosures. The book's author, Alexis McGee, has spent over 20 years in the foreclosure business... (More.)

Cashing in on Foreclosures:
One Owner's Misfortune is Another's Fortune-in-the Making
By Frank Nelson, Special to The Los Angeles Times

ALEXIS McGEE sees foreclosure – or, more accurately, the threat of foreclosure – as a ripe business opportunity, and with care, clarity and considerable knowledge, she sets out to explore this territory in depth. Her book comes at a time when over-stretched borrowers are losing homes across the country, including in California. Drawing on more than 20 years as a real estate agent, investor and industry trainer, McGee outlines strategies for finding properties, negotiating with owners, buying homes (or handing them off to other investors), fixing them up and selling them for handsome profits. The result is a comprehensive guide that holds the promise of making big money without prior experience or even any cash in hand. (More.)

Book review: 'How to buy foreclosed homes without guilt'
By Emmet Pierce, San Diego Union-Tribune

Most primers on real estate focus on how to make a quick financial killing, but a new book by Alexis McGee instructs investors how to maintain high ethical standards while working in the foreclosure market. The title is "The Foreclosures.com Guide to Making Huge Profits in Pre-foreclosures Without Selling Your Soul." McGee is president of Foreclosures.com, a Fair Oaks-based real estate information and education company.

Book review: 'Foreclosures.com Guide to Making Huge Profits...'
By Meredith Daniels, Newsday.com

EFFECTIVENESS: McGee's book is specific in that it deals with buying in the pre-foreclosure stage - that is, working directly with property owners before the property is auctioned. McGee says she likes this approach because not only does it yield a profit, but it does it in a way that helps the property owner who is about to lose a home. So from the beginning, a reader (who is fairly ethical) can feel good about the approach (which the author often refers to as the "white-knight" approach), but can also get a feel for what kind of profit is possible. * Attorney William Bronchick, author of the best-selling book, Flipping Properties: Generate Instant Cash Profits in Real Estate (Kaplan, 2006):

"Alexis McGee reveals a refreshingly honest approach to the foreclosure-investing business in that she actually teaches her students how to help people in foreclosure instead of take advantage of them. * Jerry Vass, sales trainer and author of Soft Selling in a Hard World: Plain Talk on the Art of Persuasion (Running Press Book Publishers) and Decoding the BS of Business, Selling to Executives (Vass, Incorporated):

"The best part about Alexis McGee's approach is that the investor in foreclosures can look in the mirror and be proud of who looks back. That is hard to do if the person in the mirror is dancing on the grave of a family buried in debt.

"Helping other people solve their problems is the surest way to make money and keep it. Helping people is the business; foreclosures is just the medium one works in. And you don't have look over your shoulder. In a dark world full of crooks and hustlers, Alexis' philosophy is a shining light of ethics."

* John Burns, president John Burns Real Estate Consulting, and author of U.S. Housing Markets, a highly respected and watched market research publication:

"We use Alexis McGee's ForeclosureS.Com to keep updated on foreclosure statistics across the country and we like her investment approach to the market."

* Deana Carter/award-winning recording artist and graduate of McGee's training program:

"I was intrigued by Alexis' philosophy of 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,' which is rare in any profession, especially one as sensitive as foreclosures. She (and her program) truly teaches you to look at life differentlynot how to get ahead, but rather, to get behind your beliefs and that helping others is where you truly prosper. How refreshing!"
