In my past column on “Getting Owners Phone Numbers“ I recommended some of my favorite phone number search engines. This time I want to make sure you know HOW to use these sites for FREE.
To Find Neighbors (Learn Why HERE)
- Enter the street name, city and state only. Do NOT enter the house number or the suffix (street, avenue, drive, etc.)
- Select Printer Friendly version and print all results.
- Do NOT click on any links for additional information. These are paid sites that I avoid like the plague. Get the listed phone numbers on that street and then get on the phone.
To Find Relatives (Learn Why HERE)
- Select People search
- Enter the Owner in Defaults last name, first initial, city and state.
- If you do not get any results, scroll down to the bottom of the “no results page” and select “surrounding area” under your search city. Now search again. Print using your toolbar.
- If you still have no results, remove the initial and search only by last name, same as above. Print using your toolbar.
- If you have too many results, you probably have a common name. I personally would not call relatives in this situation. But if you are new and have all the time in the world – go for it.
- Do NOT click on any links for additional information. These are paid sites that I avoid like the plague. Get the listed phone numbers on that street and then get on the phone.
To Find Your Owner – Have you Zaba’d Him?
- Enter the owners first and last name, select your State.
- Not every match will have a phone number. But you will find addresses, date of birth and last updated information. Just print what you see on your search.
- Do NOT click on any links for additional information. These are paid sites that I avoid like the plague. Get the listed phone numbers on that street and then get on the phone.
Stay away from all “pay for phone number services”. Oftentimes they offer nothing more than the information you’ve already gathered for free. And if someone promises you an unlisted phone number DO NOT DO IT! If they truly have that information, it was most likely collected illegally (from credit bureau reports run without the owners’ approval). It is not worth the damage to your credibility and results in bad Karma to boot!
Isn’t the web wonderful? Enjoy! Alexis |
